Kamehameha Vintage 50s Hawaiian Full Skirt Dress -
Who knew that the legendary King Kamehameha Hawaiian, giant of fashion, was sold at Sears? We just learned that when this chartreuse and metallic gold beauty came in with its original hang tag still intact. Of course, the fact that this vintage 50s dress is new old stock and has never been worn isn't the only thing it's got going for it. It's amazing--fabulous print, full skirt, darling shoulder-baring bodice and it's even got a side pocket!
The dress is a shirt dress that buttons all the way up with gold buttons. Ideal for dancing, this one has a full circle skirt, too. It's made from a nicely weighted, stiff cotton that gives it plenty of body and fullness. We've shown it with a crinoline for extra pouf.
Simply fabulous, this Hawaiian dress is the cream of the crop and it comes to you in pristine condition. We love the print, but we're still trying to make out some of the details--geisha girls, mountains, pagodas and lagoons--sounds like the Kamehameha we all know and love. Welcome to beauty--Hawaii style.
New Old Stock. No flaws
Kamehameha Made and styled in Hawaii
Chartreuse, grey, red, green, purple, white, metallic gold. Fabric:
This cotton is heavily treated, as if with starch. It's stiff, like pellon, but still have plenty of movement. And the stiffness of the fabric really shows off the HUGE circle skirt. This dress would be great when you need to make a dramatic entrance or make a lasting impression but is probably not the dress to wear dancing or for an all day event where comfort is key. The material, though unique and beautiful, isn't very forgiving. The cotton is stiff and slightly scratchy, so you would want to wear this with a slip.
