Rockabilly Vintage 50s Sun Dress With Bolero -
SOLD
"Oh, pool boy," you'll say, "Why don't you trot on over to the bar and bring me another one of those tutti frutti rum drinks with the umbrella?" And of course, you'll be wearing this fabulous vintage '50s citrus and banana colored sundress while you sun yourself (poolside) on a chaise lounge. Everyone else already has on her swimsuit, but you'll definitely be noticed in your cotton fruit cocktail cutie.
The dress is lovely. The bolero jacket is beautimous. Let's start with the textile. It's a cotton shirting fabric that has an extra, extra fine pinstripe in a range of colors that give way to an ombré effect--changing colors all the time. These vivid color bands are all beautifully aligned on the entire ensemble--no mean feat for a dress that doesn't carry a high end designer label. The dress has three tones--green, orange and yellow. The sundress has a cute bodice with a light gather at the center of the bust. The skirt is nice and full with a large inverted pleat. And then there's the bolero with its big shoulder pads and nifty stand-up collar. Check out the back view, See how the pleat on the jacket is a repeat performance of the front of the skirt. Puh-lease.
This dress zips in the back with a metal zipper. It boasts the Ann Foster label. It's so crisp, this cool, bright cotton.
Now darling, please don't forget to tip that cabana boy. After all, you just might be seeing him later.
Condition:
Very good to excellent. One line/spot on back at top of pleat. (See last photo.) Also, the very top of the back pleat was repaired with strong (and barely visible) hand stitches. MIssing original belt. Clean and ready to wear. It's doubtful that the small stain can be removed.
